Retrofit Regional Adders were offered in grid constrained areas for certain non-lighting measures. Businesses may qualify for additional incentives if their facility is in a qualified area, as determined by the first three characters of the facility’s postal code (more details here).
Pre-approved Retrofit applications will remain eligible for a Regional Adder. A complete Retrofit application must be submitted by November 29, 2026, 11:59 PM EST to qualify for a Regional Adder.
Additional Save on Energy program opportunities to support grid constrained areas will be announced in the future on the Save on Energy website.
Introducing rooftop single axis-tracking, rooftop dual-axis tracking, and rooftop vertical bifacial systems as additional Prescriptive Solar DER measures, based on feedback from the marketplace.
The Prescriptive Solar DER worksheet and Retrofit Portal will be updated to include the rooftop axis tracking and vertical bifacial measures on November 30, 2026; however, applicants may apply for these configurations now using the existing measures in the Retrofit Portal and worksheet.
Vertical monofacial systems do not qualify for Retrofit incentives as they do not align with the savings assumptions for the offering and result in low program savings.
The updates to the Retrofit Prescriptive Solar DER measures will align the nameplate capacity for Microgeneration and Small-To-Medium Generation with the thresholds used for connection assessments, which was updated in May 2026 per the Ontario Energy Board.
Retrofit applications pre-approved or submitted before November 30, 2026, will proceed based on the pre-approval or submission and do not need to be updated to reflect these changes, where the program requirements are met.
The Prescriptive Solar DER worksheet and measures in the Retrofit Portal will be updated on November 30, 2026.
Please consult your Local Distribution Company (LDC) to determine the requirements to connect your solar project to the grid.
The gross electricity and peak demand savings in the Retrofit Portal will be updated for Prescriptive HVAC measures to reflect updates to the expected operating conditions.
There are no impacts to applicants and participants; new applications can continue to be submitted and applications that have already been submitted do not need to be updated.
New Retrofit applications submitted after November 29, 2026, that contain the updated measures will reflect the updated savings in the Retrofit Portal.
