Application

Deliver value and improve the service you provide by helping your customers receive Save on Energy incentives and completing the applications on their behalf.

There are two ways to get Retrofit incentives—pick a track that best accommodates project needs: prescriptive track or custom track.

  • Prescriptive track applications are ideal for quick system upgrades with incentive levels based on a predefined amount.

  • Custom track applications are designed to provide flexibility for comprehensive projects. Lighting incentives are based on the greater of $400/kW demand savings and $0.05/kWh first year energy savings, to a maximum of 50 per cent of total eligible project costs. Receive funding for lighting controls, with incentive rates up to the greater of $800/kW of demand savings or $0.10/kWh of energy savings, depending on control system type.

Before applying, you and your customer can contact the local hydro company for guidance. To participate in the incentive program, the project must be pre-approved before work begins.

Prescriptive Track Applications

Prescriptive track applications are ideal for quick system upgrades with incentive levels based on a predefined amount.

Step 1:
Become an applicant representative: Complete the worksheet and pre-project incentive forms on behalf of your customer; this includes providing estimated project costs and manufacturer technical information. Your customer reviews it and submits to their local hydro company for pre-approval. To set up an account, click here. Your customer will also need an account to submit the application.

Step 2:
The local hydro company reviews the application and responds in a timely manner. A customer service representative from the company can also assist in completing the form if it requires changes at this point. Once approved, you can purchase and install the new equipment.

Step 3:
After the installation is complete, fill out and submit the post-project submission form, which includes project work details, invoices, and proof of payment, to your customer's local hydro company.

Step 4:
The local hydro company reviews the post-project submission and mails the incentive to your customer after it is approved.

Custom Track Applications

Custom track applications are designed to provide flexibility for more comprehensive projects with opportunities for increased energy savings.

Incentives are based on project specifics, which may include:

  • A description of the facility baseline electricity use;
  • A description of the equipment being replaced;
  • A description of the new equipment;
  • Disposal costs of old equipment;
  • The operating schedule (days per week, hours per day, time of day); and
  • The cost of the new equipment.

Step 1:
Become an applicant representative: Complete the worksheet and pre-project incentive forms on behalf of your customer. Your customer reviews it and submits to their local hydro company for pre-approval. Information requested may include product details, calculations and assumptions, as well as a project measurement and verification plan. To set up an account, click here. Your customer will also need an account to submit the application.

Step 2:
The local hydro company reviews the application and responds in a timely manner. A customer service representative from the company can also assist in completing the form if it requires changes at this point, or may perform a site visit to verify the baseline electricity consumption data.

Step 3:
Once approval is received, proceed with the upgrade.

Step 4:
Complete the agreed upon measurement and verification plan, if applicable, and submit a report to the local hydro company for review. Measurement and verification plans are required for projects that include custom measures with an estimated incentive above $10,000.

Step 5:
The customer receives payment once the local hydro company approves the project savings and resulting incentive payment, based on the post-project submission, which includes project work details and proof of payment.
